    Hi there,
I have a 4 month old Acer Aspire 6920G laptop with a cracked LCD. It happened just by catching the corner of it (the plastic surround, not the lcd) with the back of my hand (it was just a tap for god's sake!) as I went to plug in a memory stick. Brilliant. I guess the screen was weakened for some reason.

Anyway, I know the screen isn't covered by the warranty so I was wondering how much Acer charge to replace the screen? I've looked around and can get a new replacement screen for about £95 and fit it myself but I assume that will void the rest of my warranty? I'm happy to go the DIY route if a screen is far more expensive from Acer.

Any advice? Anyone know what Acer charge?
Thanks in advance for any help with this.

Hi, it could cost about £200-400 for acer to replace the screen. Either do it yourself or can you possibly claim it under your house contents insurance?

Cheers Chris. I don't want to us ethe house insurance as I've already made a couple of claims in the last 5 years and there's also an excess.

It's a joke how much is charged to repair screens etc, you could get another Laptop for not much more.

if it is just the bezel, and not the lcd it should be covered under warranty. probably just a screw that was torqued a bit too much causing the screw boss to crack.

It's the LCD unfortunately. Got a single crack from the top of the screen to the bottom with the liquid crystal leaking.

thanks for that. I have found a small guide here which is for thew model up from mine: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=368769&highlight=6930+screen

I also have a broken Aspire 1690 so I may use the guide you posted (same casing as mine) and practice removing that screen to get me used to the ins and outs.
