I have acer aspire 3624. I've managed to brake the Launch board. The computer is out of warranty ... I'm just want to know if the computer can function without it ?

I've short circuited the wires going in to the main board from the LB. The computer starts, but it doesn't do anything (black screen). The LB has multiple layers. I want to know if someone has experienced a similar problem and if getting a new LB will fix it? New LB is about 18 $.

It doesn't have an lcd switch ...
It doesn't work on an external monitor.
It's a long wait for the spare launch board so i wanted to know if it could be problem or to look for another one ?
