Ok I was testing out my microphone and I noticed that the sound is really staticy. I figure its some electrcal interference coming from somewhere. I muted every other sound input and changed physical locations. But the recordings I make sound like old staticy records.
I also turned down the record level down to 40 and boost level of the mic to 0dB but it will won't go away.

Yes I'm aware of cheap external mics that can be found, but I'd like to fix specifically the problem at hand here. Anyone who can help gets some freshed baked choclate chip cookies! :D

possibly interference from the wifi antenna. try turning off your wifi while recording to see if that helps.

No, even with the WiFi disabled, the static remains.

That's odd, maybe you have a defective unit? The mic on my 6920G isn't the best, but it's clear enough for recording audio clips and for audio over Skype.

I have the 6930 and the in-built microphone is working GREAT! No buzzing sound in the background and my voice is nice and clear. My friends like the in-built microphone better than my Gamer Razor Piranha headsets microphone.

Not sure if it's different compared to the 6930G, but my 6920G uses BIOS v.1.10 and Realtek driver 6.0.1.5864.

My Audio driver is version 6.0.1.5618 and my Bios version is 0.3234 ;) (stock bios)

EDIT: I just noticed I have a 6930ZG but the differents between 6930G and 6930ZG shouldn't be a lot, because the hardware is almost the same, and it got the same design and microphone etc.

It seems the 6930ZG does'nt have a 64-bit operating system since all the drivers are 32-bit. So I can't use those.
I tried using the drivers for the 6930Z, but it did'nt fix the microphone issue.

On the Acer Euro FTP, the drivers should support Vista x64 too.

Weird. Have you tried to adjust the microphone settings through the Acer Audio manager from the control panel?

    Yes.
I'm also begining to think its not a driver issue.

Yeah, but I actually remember I updated some kind of update for windows vista for a month ago, and then my my in-built microphone began to stutter and sound very distorted. I made a system recovery, and updated windows again, and then it worked. It could be a conflict.

Maybe you could try a clean install of Windows?
... Nah, just buy a headset with a good microphone. You can easily get better microphones than the in-built one.
You could also try to send it back to Acer, but my experience with Acers support is poor.

    Good luck!

    Kind Regards powerfull499
