I really want to pick up the AS1810T-8968 but I am somewhat hesitant because of the new Arrandale ULVs that are coming out in a few months.

Is the 1810T still worth the money if bought now?

The model in question, as seen from the link, is the SU7300 "Olympic Edition" (silver) with 4GB DDR2 and a 320GB hard drive.

Think about it this way, if you're gonna be browsing tech forums/blogs once the Arrandales arrive, even if you bought a 1810T now, then it would be better to wait if you can because you're just gonna regret the purchase later.

If you're just here to ask for advice, IMO the 1810TZ is a better value and if it fits your needs now then there's no reason to wait.

Value my a**, its gonna depreciate regardless. Buy it if you need it, not want. If you can wait till summer/fall for the Capella platform then so be it.

    Hmmm depreciate eh...

The wait theory just doesn't hold up with technology. You absolutely know by the time an ultralite comes out with the new icore that there will be a release on another better and cheaper...and you will wait again.

And...as seen with the 11.6 systems now, they surely arent rushing into throwing anything above a 1.3 C2D (US side) in there yet.

I have seen this over and over again...heck some of the ssd guys have been waiting 2 plus years for the right ssd to be released.

Get the system now and enjoy it. There still isn't any proof they can even get an icore into an ultralite presently... There are lots of issues to be solved by then...

Les, what do you think about Samsung SSD 256GB?
2 models are out, MMDPE56G5DXP-0VB and MMDOE56G5MXP-0VB. They seem to be not much expensive and very well performing, it's also possible to find them at about 400 usd...

That is my favorite ssd. If you go aways back on the ssd thread I had posed questions regarding the older model that did not have TRIM support. I was getting 215r/145wr and it never slowed even after all the use that I had put it through.

I even stated that, even if it does slow say 30mb/s, it still blows away the Intel...

My last went with my 1340 but I will guarantee I find another of that exact ssd for this system...keep watching Ebay.
