I currently own the Ferrari 4005, but have been intrigued by the TM8204 for all the reasons you've all bought this laptop. My questions are:

    1) Will the TM8204 run Vista in 64 bit mode when it comes out? Some people say that the Core Duo isn't a 64 bit processor, but I noticed a Dell flyer last month that advertised one of their top-of-the-line Core Duo laptops could be customized with Windows 64bit edition. How's this possible?

    2) Should I wait for the next Ferrari? Will it likely be Turion 64 x2 based and is it a better processor overall (performance, temperature, batt life) than the Core Duo? I forgot when the Ferrari 4005 was announced, but I assume this years model will be announced around the same time???

core duos aren't 64-bit. anyway, you don't need 64-bit in order to run vista. you would have to upgrade to the merom in order to run 64-bit vista, as far as i know. very little is understood about the turion x2 b/c it isn't out yet, but i doubt it will be able to rival the core duo in battery life b/c amd has always been a bit behind when it came to heat/energy efficiency.

I had the Ferrari 3200, which I loved. Upgraded to the 4005 but have issues with the fan noise. I know it's not deafening, but when you're used to silence, this constant whoosh grinds on you after a while. Anyone know when the 4005 was introduced? I have a buyer for the 4005 but don't know if I should get the TM8204 now or wait until the next Ferrari will come out. If it's in a month, I'll wait. If it's Sep / Oct timeframe, then I'm getting the TM8204. Anyone know the answer to how a Core Duo could run WinXP 64 as Dell was advertising?

Look for the Ferrari 5000 series to be introduced after AMD's official mobile X2 launch on May 9th. Shipment probably towards end of May, early June. Spec will be very close to the 8204 but I don't know if they are going to clock the X1600 higher like they did on the F4005.
