Hi,
I'm just wondering what everyone thinks about buying an Acer in the USA. I really like the Aspire 2000, 2010, and 2020 (not exactly sure what the differences between them are), but is it going to be something that I won't be able to get any support with? Maybe it's better to stick with a company with a bigger name.

Acer may not be that well known in the US, but they're catching on really fast. There notebooks are good quality and has a lot of features for the money. Many users are starting to notice what Acer has to offer and are happy with their purchases.
Regarding service, a user (Chimp_Spanner) was having problems with his unit that could not be resolved, Acer went the extra mile to keep a customer happy, they offered him a brand new 2012WLMi as a replacement. The unit was better equiped than his original unit and more expensive. He did not have to pay anything for the upgrade/replacement. This new unit fixed his problem & I'm sure the service provided by Acer will probably keep him a loyal Acer user.
The differences between these units is mainly configuration. The higher the model, the more features it has. The 2020 series has an aluminum body for durability. It's been mentioned that the 2012WLMi has been discontinued, but a good alternative would be the Travelmate 4501WLMi. Similarly spec'd but is more suited for business users, so there's less "entertainment" software.

Does Acer have any other laptops with metal cases besides the 2020? What about the 2000 and 2010?

No, the 2020 series is the only one in the Acer lineup that I know of. They may have changed some of their other specs, but the 2020 was the onlyone advertised as having an aluminum casing.
If you want other brands, you may want to take a look at the Fujitsu S6000 & S7000 series. Other Fujitsu models may also have a mag alloy body, but it's best to first findout which model fits your needs.

I'm a little concerned about the 4,200 rpm hard drive in the 2020 model. Would I be able to buy a faster replacement, or is that not possible?

Yes, you can buy and replace the existing HDD with a faster one. A 5400rpm HDD should be the minimum, 7200rpm is ideal.
