    Guys,

    Here's the link:

Can any of you comment on the Acer AMD Turion 64 Dual-Core TL-50 model onsale on Black Friday (day after thanks giving) ?

Any chance this thing can do some light gaming? My 14 year old son mostly needs a good, portable school and internet browsing laptop with good mobile / movie capability. If this thing could also do some light gaming that would be an awesome bonus!

    Thanks!

I got that same exact model yesterday at Circuit City for $749.99 and that ad is really pissing me off.. maybe they'll give me credit for the other $150 if I bring in the reciept on black friday.

To answer your question though, yes it's definitely capable of light gaming. So far I've tried Stronghold Legends, Battlefield 2142, and Warcraft 3. All games work fine.. although Battlefield 2142 does get a little laggy in huge multiplayer battles.

My only real complaint with the laptop is that they didn't go with a 256mb video card (the ATI 1150) since so many games today are beginning to require 128mb and recommend 256mb.

For $599 I'd say go for it, it's hard to beat that kind of price on a decent dual core laptop.

    Corrupt81,

Thanks for the feedback. BTW, If I were you I'd print out the ad and take it to the store manager and haggle for a refund or store credit right away.

My son is likely to be playing games like Halo, Call of Duty, Grand Theft Auto, etc. Sounds like these should work fine?
