I have an Aspire 1690 (Canadian model) and I am having a lot of problems burning CDs on it.

I have tried Nero (it thinks it has burned the CD, but nothing happened)

NTI worked, but some songs were corrupted (they skipped badly)

I had initial success with iTunes, but the second CD I have tried to burn has continually cancelled citing an "unknown error(-50)". While iTunes is preparing the CD to burn the drive stalls in the middle of it - then iTunes cancels the burn.

Sorry if I am not explaining this clearly, or if this problem has previously been dealt with. Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated.

Might want to try updating the firmware and/or the IDE drivers on the drive if one is available. Could be the drive is bad. Been known to happen from time to time.

    Thanks.
    I'll try updating the drivers.
