Well, Im curious to see who else plays this on there laptop, aspire 6920g to be more specific , does any fellow 6920g and cod4 owners have ever lagged in cod4, like not be lagging then just suddenly get a lag spike and be totaly lagged out for until you restart cod4, if yes mind telling me the steps what you did if you fixed, and may i ask what driver number you use for nvidia?please also state what anti virus you use if you had one and what you did to fix it,
thanks.

Try asking this in the Gaming forum if you don't get a reply here, Awake.
-
Oh, I didn't know there was a gaming forum, thank you for the advice. Hopefully I get some replies here though.
-
you have an acer aspire 6920 with a 9500M GS correct? IF you do you can run this game just fine. i run COD4 on medium and high settings getting 35-40 FPS you can run the game just fine as long as you have a 9500M GS.
-
hmm, well do you ever get lag spikes? mind answering what antivirus you use, cause i think that is the cause.:/
and yes i have a 6920g and 9600gs nvidia
, i play fine for a bit but when i get i think cause of many airstrikes i get hit by a huge lag spike then im just lagging the rest of the game.
i have intel centrino,if that helps.
oh and what driver are you useing?
did you ever change your vram? -
My stock drivers worked fine but right now I'm using Dox 180.70 drivers. Try turning down the settings and your res. I'm using Macaffe anti virus.
-
ah when i was a mcafee user i was fine, until i got ca
-
wait is that driver for nvidia geforce 9500m gs or something else?
oh were do you download the dox 180.70 driver? -
-
should i use 180.70 or the latest one?
-
I used to have the same prob with 8920. I think this card is designed to underclock when it reaches some certain point, unfortunately it does it too soon. Try 180.70, now i don't have the problem, but the card's highest temperature gets higher. Mines now may get 95C while before is around 85C when playing high fps game. Be concerned
-
how in the world is your 9500M GS getting to 95C??? Mine never gets past 65C thats with 180.70 drivers and it was the same for my stock drivers when I used them.
-
hmm... becoz if u play like cod4 for 30 minutes e.g., definitely u'll get high gpu temp and i'm sure it will be more than 65C. But this is only my own thought based on my own exp. Try to watch your temp while u're playing, not after. U may see something different. Btw, i overclock
-
well i also got a fan under my laptop
!
-
do i have to download a modded INF or everything is in the setup already?
-
yep I checked during gameplay after playing for an hour and a half my temp was only 63C the overclock maybe why your temps are so high. 95C is a very big danger zone you can fry your gpu.
-
I believe the 180.70 drivers have the 9500M GS in the original INF, so no!
-
ok i just downloaded one of the 180 and used modded inf, should i reinstall with no modded inf, i use to install without modded inf and it worked fine..i noticed this with modded inf didn't work so well
-
two questions doesn't cod4 need 2.4 ghz to run, i only have 1.83 ghz so that MIght be the problem, and errrr how do you check the temperature for your GPU, do you do it on the computer or you use something outside of the laptop to measure the heat?
-
your processor is not the problem
-
well, any ideas of what could be the problem?
-
any1 no a direct support line or website for cod4..i cant seem to find the right one >_>.
-
you updated your drivers correct? If so are you still getting the downlclocking? Have you made sure that that your laptop is in high performance mode correct and your playing while your laptop is plugged in correct?
-
Yes im on high quality, and im useing Dox 180.84 driver, i sware this is my AV, maybe it changed my sysytem, i might restore soon...maybe on the weekend see if anything changed when playing cod4.
Oh have you forwarded any ports for cod4? -
what setting are you playing at?
-
what do you mean setting in cod4? i just go with what was installed....errr may i ask were is the GPU in the laptop? like is it the middle or bottem left/right?
-
try lowering the resolution and some settings and see if you get a better performance
-
Ok, but have you ever forwarded a port for cod4?
-
I don't understand why your having so many problems.
-
lol did you edit cause b4 you said what doyou mean b port O_O.
anyways have yo ever forwareded 28960 on your router, opening it s you could get better connection? -
yout tink i should format? ive been uninstallig and reinstalling a lot of antiviruses...so O_O.
-
i dont use a router I use a modem so i don't know and wait are you lagging like internet connection wise or gameplay. So now i'm confused are you only lagging when you online?
-
If you wanted to port forward, this site has some a good guide on how to do it, i've used it before and it's simple:
http://www.portforward.com/ -
Ill check tomorrow with the pc
im sure SG works fine...maybe its my connection whats your ISP? im optimum. -
i love that site. i already knew about it but thanks
-
lucky, you don't have a router...even thou router is like a second firewall.
-
halo, i only lag when im online. Im thinking if i have to forward ports or not.
-
Sorry to interrupt but i dont believe the last question got an answer and ive been meaning to ask myself, perhaps Halo can tell me.
Is it within vista ultimate or a seperate app?
To monitor whilst say playing a game would i have to play in a windowed mode or could i within game???
Thanks -
Put it to the test first. If u are aware of how high is ur laptop temp while playing high fps game, try check the temp for every 15 minutes for like 2 hours. After, u will get the fixed temp rate and know when to rest your laptop. I did that in the first time i bought my new lappie.
-
What i meant was what did Halo monitor/test his cpu/gpu temp with??
Is there something within my vista ultimate i am to yet find or has he a stand alone program???
If it is a program what is it called.
Thanks for your help though ive noted that part. -
I have COD4 maxed out on my 6920G and it works fine. Some parts of certain missions lag a bit but overall its real smooth, 20-30 fps.
I occasionally get weird colouring (artifacts?) when my laptop is hot.
COD4 on Acer Aspire 6920G, help?
