Rather than wade through the countless threads, Im creating a new one. The mods can delete it if they wish but I would just like to know a few things...

    1) What CPU's can I drop into the (PINK) socket on my 5315-2122

    2) What would be the best chip to put into that socket? It seems from reading the forums that the T5450 is the best bang for the buck but Im wondering what kinda performance gains could get I get for a few extra bucks

    3) The only place I can find a T5450 is on ebay. Any other suggestions on where to find good deals on processors

4)Vista or XP -- I have upgraded to XP -- just wondering what everybody else is doing

    Thanks guys!

you can install any SOCKET P CPU in the 5315...

i have the T5450,, and it works great... much cooler thann the celeron,
but i have seen T7100s and T7500 cpus in action,,,

i would either stick with the T5450 or go to the T7300 or higher (4mb L2 cache) it's all a matter of what you want to spend on your laptop

use the SEARCH feature.... look for "ULTIMATE CPU GUIDE" or "CPU GUIDE"

also i've been hearing good results from the T8100 and T8300,,, but i haven't heard of one being put in an Aspire 5315 YET!!!

just do your research and decide how high you wanna go,,,,

Thanks bigO and hoggie. I needed to establish who the big dogs were around here when it comes to help, and your answers really set the bar. Forum etiquette differs from board to board but I am really thankful that you didnt flame me and just gave me an answer of "search" Very helpful. Thank you. I will look into the T5450
