    Hello everyone,

Before I start, the specs of my notebook are as follows:

    Acer Aspire 5000
    AMD Turion 64 ML-30 (1.6 Ghz)
    1.25GB of RAM
    15.4 TFT display
    SiS Mirage Graphics (yuck...)

Anyway, for the past few months i've noticed that my notebook's CPU fan will quickly speed up whenever i'm in the BIOS for about 4-5 seconds. I start up the notebook, see the ACER splash screen then I hear the fan start spinning rather fast and loud. There were times that I needed to change my boot order for another reason but that shouldn't affect this.

Also, when i'm docked (plugged in AC) when i'm doing Photoshop work, i'll change my power scheme to Home/Office Desk so I can run at the full 1600Mhz. I know the voltage goes up, but the fan spins at like third level and even when i'm not doing anything for like 5 minutes, it still continues.

I just re-installed Windows...and i'm just glad I have a Targus cooler underneath...cuz it wouldn't have finished the whole file copying if i didn't have one. After a while the computer just shuts down...naturally to prevent overheating. So could this be a processor issue or something else?

Any suggestions to as why my fan might be acting up, espeically before Windows loads up?

Get a program to check your cpu temps and see what it is running at.

Well when i'm in Windows, I have been using AMD Power Monitor and I have EVEREST and my idle temps are 42C with Max Battery Enabled. On Home/Office Desk it's a bit higher and I run at 1.250 V but my processing frequency is at the full 1600Mhz (1.6 Ghz).
