    Can anybody identify this type of empty slot in Acer Aspire 5600 series laptop???

    My laptop is aspire 5601AWLMi. Just opened to upgrade the memory and came across this slot. Its 60mm wide or around 2.5'' length and is slightly smaller than the memory slot. If someone could help me to know the type and spec of this slot it would be much appreciated.

    Hmm that's funny I have the 5100 and I just not noticed the same slot being there. To me it looks like a different pin ram slot, but your guess is as good as mine.

    Here is 2 pictures of mine if anyone else has an idea

    It's mini-PCI (not mini-PCI express) and in some models it was like Aspire 5600 was meant as a connector for TV-tuner.
    These are not the newest notebooks and back then not all components were available in mini-PCI express format so they had to install both.

    On the 5900 series there is a smaller version under the RAM flap to accomodate a TV card mounted over the top of the 2 RAM sticks
