    I read some threads on replacing the HDD in Aspire 5100 and nobody mentioned anything about HDD incompatibility. Just make sure you buy an HDD with the right connections (I don't know if AS 5100 comes with SATA or IDE/PATA).

    Mine has IDE/PATA,and the Scorpio Blue has EIDE wich is backwards compatible with IDE.
    So I will buy one and try..
