Hi.
I have been using an old Acer Aspire 1683 WLMi as my working computer for the last 6 years. It has suffered several upgrades since then:
- CPU Pentium M 735 1.7ghz to M 755 2.0Ghz
- RAM 2x256MB to 2x1GB
- HDD 80GB IDE to 320GB IDE, using patched BIOS with 48-bit LBA support
- Bluetooth, none at first, later BCM92035 1.2, then BCM92045 2.0
- Wireless 2200BG 802.11bg to TP-Link TL-WN861N 802.11n
Now for the "problems":
- Bluetooth frontal blue button says "No Device", yet it enables/disables Bluetooth, so i don't care what it says as long as it works.
- Wireless orange button no longer enables/disables wireless, but it blinks when connected.
- ePower Management only shows cardbus, Lan and Firewire, there is no Bluetooth or Wireless.
What specifies which hardware is enabled/disabled when i press the bluetooth or the wireless button? The BIOS? The Launch Manager? The ePower Management? Could that specification be changed to work with different hardware? I have Windows XP and 7 in dual boot, but for now this questions are to be applied in XP.
NOT RELATED, BUT... the laptop could not resume from standy (black screen or frozen windows xp) because of TP-LINK as it is not Centrino compliant, so i'm using xStandbyHandler (service) that automatically enables/disables PCI\VEN_168C^&DEV_0029 on resume/standby. When enabled, audio files and audio in video files stutters at times, be it on youtube, media player or anywhere else.

Problem solved after rewriting the BIOS (i used a crisis floppy disk and used a BIOS patched with SLIC 2.1, so i can't say which one worked), bluetooth buttons now works properly.
- ePower Management only shows cardbus, Lan and Firewire, there is no Bluetooth or Wireless.
It now shows bluetooth and wireless due to the BIOS rewrite, but wireless option doesn't enable or disable wireless card since i'm not using the original Intel 2200BG card.
Can ePower Management or Launch Manager recognize custom hardware?
