    Current bios:V1.06 6/01/2010 SM bios version:2.06
    Latest bios:V2.14 08/08/2011
I never updated or flashed a bios, are those two the same meaning?
I saved the file, just shows apps to execute .exe .No read me,so I don't know what it fixes/updates.Laptop runs good, but it seems like temp sensor doesn't work right. The fan just keeps kicking on & off till I hit 60*C.It will stay running till it gets below 60*C.And goes back to kicking on & off again. It runs 3-5sec,then rpms goes way down for 3-5 secs. And it repeats till it gets to 60*C again. Here is the page for the bios.

I been very hesitant with bios, cause you can turn a mobo into a dud if not careful.Does it automatically make a backup bios before updating?
I heard alot of newer computers do that now, unlike the old ones.I just want to make sure I don't ruin a bios chip or worse, the mobo.

I went ahead & did it.Went to system info and it shows 2.14,so im guessing it was successful :) .Fan is running better it seems. Can actually hear it running.Doesn't get past 55 now.It is usually 80*F 60% humidity in my room, that might be why temps stay up.Or it could be that it just runs hot.I really want to wait till I upgrade my cpu before I crack my laptop open to put thermal in.But it probably needs it.That is one thing I wish company would do a better job on,applying thermal or right size thermal pads.
