Hey guys I'm not sure of the differences if any between the Aspire 4720 and 4720Z but I was wondering if anyone knew if the 4720Z could use internal bluetooth and if so would one that works with a 4720 also work with the 4720Z?

It can, but its tricky, and hard to get the BT module & connector. (You'll have to disassemble the notebook)
Better off using a micro-USB BT

Thank you for the reply Andy.
I don't so much care about dissasembling it, actually did it already to look at one of my speakers which I found out was blown :( . I found a module on ebay for it andI would prefer to go through a slow and careful process to have bluetooth internally.

does that model have an external BT button?
if so then your motherboard MAY have a connector for an internal BT Module....

there is a seller on ebay named oldegg , he is known for knockoff OEM BT parts.

i wish my board had the connector.... i'm tempted to buy one and solder it to where the pins for the connnector should be. (for some reason they left out the pins- i just hope the contacts are active

The Connector/Cable goes into one of the white connectors, next to the speaker and mic connector, on the upper side of the Mobo. (The large one at the corner of the mobo)

bigozone - Yeah this model has an external bluetooth button.
Andy - Thank you so much for telling me that it will make the job MUCH easier as I noticed a connector which had nothing connected to it near the speaker connector.

It's pretty easy to do MkFly, the connector is on the top side of the board so you don't have to dissassemble the whole thing. Going carefully you'll easily be able to do it in under an hour. I would wait a couple months if you're laptop is brand new just to make sure nothing is wrong as this would more than likely ruin the warranty.

I've had it for just over a month now. And as a question to a fellow 4720Z owner, does your CPU fan spin up right at 55C, and shut off below 55C? Mine does, and so the fan ends up spinning up and down all the time, which gets to be pretty annoying.

My warranty is already voided anyway. :p I took the whole thing apart to check out the fan, and I replaced the memory and hard drive (sold the original parts).

Woo, got the Bluetooth module from Oldegg, works great! :)

I bent the pins on the internal monitor connection in the process though! I thought I was going to lose the laptop. :( They were bent BAD. I was able to bend them back with a mech pencil enough to where I could slide the connector over them. That was a close call though.
