Hello,
Aspire 3102WLMi
Before I get flamed or warned against hacking or cracking I want to state my case. Real simple, BIOS won't accept my password after updating.
I don't mind reformatting the whole thing, but I don't think that will solve my problem. Acer support wants an armload of cash to do it and it will come back clean an empty, don't mind that either.
My real motive is to upgrade the CPU to an Athlon and needed to flash to BIOS.
Any ideas, I'll pass on anything that has the appearance of impropriety.
TIA
Regards,
Andrew

Reinstalling an OS is not going to fix a BIOS issue. But definitely no cracking of BIOS password discussion here (I know you don't want to be warning, but we NBR mods have a responsibility).
You might try no password (in case it was wiped out), and if there is a default Acer password you might try it (can't say that I would know what that kind of password could be though). -
Thanks for the reply. What is your feeling on winphlash? I have read about it being able to clear some of the BIOS settings, but will I run the risk of bricking my laptop?
Curiously enough, it still boots and runs fine, so perhaps the flash didn't completely take (if that's possible).
Any other legal ideas are appreciated.
Andrew
