    Hello,

In my 5820TG, I'm trying to change the HDD with the SSD OCZ Vertex 2 120 Gig.
However I can't install the SSD inside, as it seems there is a mechanical obstruction. Indeed the OCZ casing goes under the SATA connector, while the HDD has some space under the SATA connector.
Sorryfor the bad pic quality, I only have my phone to take the photos QQ.

Here is the WD pic, where you can see some spacing just under the SATA connector.

Here is the OCZ pic, and no spacing under the SATA connector since the casing is there.

When I try to install the SSD, the casing seems to get in connect with some kind of black rubber border which lies under the laptop's SATA connector.
I think if I can lower that black rubber border by 1.5 mm, the SSD could enter.
However, I have no idea on how to proceed. I tried pushing down the black rubber with the screwdriver, but it's only on one corner, so it doen't work. The whole black border needs to be pushed down.

    Any ideas ? Hendrickson ?

To mod: please do not merge in the 5820TG thread, I already asked the question there and it got lost amidst the flurry of posts. I'm making a new thread to get more exposure, as I'm not sure it is 5820TG specific.

If the rubber is glued on the board, I think you can use a knife to carefully remove it or shave it.

Another way is to mod the OCZ case, which is not recommended since it will reduce the resell value. Or you can remove the case and just use the bare SSD inside, or even wrap it in your own aluminum foil "case".

    Thanks dynkin.
I'm just hoping to do things safely before dissecting anything ^^.

Well cut the rubber or push hard.

If you value your laptop untouched over the SSD, you could always remove the SSD's casing. This will void the SSD warrenty but maintain it for the laptop.

Did you ever find a solution to this Loopy? I've got the TimelineX 4810t, ran into this exact same problem.
