Hi, I have an Aspire 5050 - 5554 model purchased from Canada... I seem to have lost my recovery CD... but I do have the laptop drivers which i got off Acer's website....I have a copy of Windows XP pro with SP2 from a previous dell laptop with a valid product key.... The Acer laptop had come with XP Media Centre Edition.

Ok, the problem is that when i put the XP pro CD in to install, all goes well till the part in XP install where it says installing devices and when that gets complete, the screen to set Date and Time-Zone appears....at that point the Mouse pad and the Keyboard freezes up (till this point they work fine).....i cant set the Date and Time-zone and also can't proceed from that point on since even the keyboard is dead... I have tried starting from beginning again but the problem still persists each time..... I have tried installing XP home version but same problem exists (exactly at this point).....tried all my know how on the issue and cant seem to get around it.... laptop as of now is dead without an OS.... need suggestions urgently....
