hi, ive been having a few probs with my laptop.

If i try and boot as normal from the harddrive i get a black screen with the following text:

    For (my network controller)
PXE-E61: Media test failure, check cable
    PXE-M0F: Exiting PXE ROM.
    Operating System not found.

so after that i deceided it may be best to do a fresh install so i disabled network boot and changed the first boot device to cd/dvd drive.

now when trying to boot it it just goes straight to a black screen with operating system not found at the top.

at a loss now as i cant do much without being able to boot it from a cd :(

    any help appreciated,

    cheers les.

Does the CD start to spin up, when you turn the notebook on? If it doesn't, then it may not know if a CD is there. If it doesm, then there may be something wrong with your CD, that stops it being read properly.

If you have tried more than one disc, and they still don't work, then your drive may be at fault. Is your notebook still under warranty? If so, try and get it repaired, that way.

turned out that the screw underneath that keeps the drive seated correctly had come out once that was refitted it booted from disc straight away.

only problem is its now randomly shutting down during the windows installation.
