I bought a new 8935G and found that the card reader cannot read my 2GB H-Type xD card.
The camera I'm using it in does not show any problem.
I tried reinstalling reader driver.
I teste the reader with an old 16Mb xD card and this works.
When I put the 2GB card in, Windows Vista says it has to be formatted; at this point the card is already unreadable in the camera and must be formatted againg there.
If I try to format on pc, the process stops at about 90% with an error.
Any advice?
Thanks!

There are occasional issues with newer card variants and some readers/cameras. It sounds like you have found one such issue. Unfortunately this can result in loss of data on the card due to the incompatible device attempting to read the card (even without a write or format). My advice would be to read the card through the camera via usb, or purchase a separate card reader that can cope with the high speed xD cards and only use the camera to format the card. Sadly if your card _had_ photos on it you may find you cannot recover them.

Well, my 2GB card is not a "newer card variant" as it is two years old, at least. I read somewhere that the H-Type variant has been discontinued in 2008 due to higher costs: it could be the new card reader does not support the standard any more?
And... sadly, indeed, I found that the photos on the card do get lost just on my first attempt to read the card. -

My 8930G reads my Fuji xD 2GB type H fine.
Try the program below to check for errors.

Could you identify the reader hardware? I just found mine id from O2Micro for now.

I'm not sure how I should the program.
Put the card in.
Launch ChkFlsh.exe and...
Could you please explain a quick test scenario to understand what's wrong?
Tnx in adnvance -

"newer card variant" - just meant it was type H not the original xD rather than just invented. Good luck though. It is worth trying a few different tools to recover the images some may work where others fail, in my experience.
