I have done a clean install of Windows Vista Business on my TM8103. I have installed all the drivers I got from the Acer Euro Support Website. But I still have issues with 2 components:

    Base System Device
    O2Micro OZ711M3/MC3 MemoryCardBus Controller (only 1 isn't working of 3 entries)

I have no idea what that Base System Device is, but the MemoryCardBus Controller is related to PCMCIA and the Smart Card and possibly the 5-in-1 Card Reader.

So does anyone have any idea on how I can solve this problem?

    You got it,
Should be the 5-1 card reader.
Make sure you get the 5-1 card reader drivers and that most likely will update the ones in there already and most probably the unkwown device.

I did update the drivers. But the device still has problems as listed in Device Manager.

I also tried using a Smart Card but Platinum Secret cannot detect a Smart Card, possibly due to the same problem (non-working drivers for Smart Card reader). My best guess is that Platinum Secret cannot detect a Card Reader at all.

I'll probably go send them an email but I'm sure I'll get the usual "We don't support non-Acer Windows versions" reasons again. They probably expect me to use the Upgrade Kit to resolve it.

    FWIW,
I rescued my sister-in-laws Acer, that had Vista pre-installed on it but crashed, and the recovery partition wasn't even Vista, it was XP and it took awhile, but I was able to find drivers that worked. If they sold it to you with Vista, it doesn't matter what version,(the drivers are all the same & all the versions are actually on a retail Vista install disc-it's just the key that decides the installed version-not sure about Acer though), they better support it. If it was XP, try using drivers from another model that Acer makes, that do have Vista drivers, that worked for me on her laptop. Good luck, and sorry I couldn't help more.
