Hello all... I am enjoying my new 2012 but I have yet to find a decent case for it. I have so far bought and took back a Samsonite L35 and a Mobile Esentials case. The Samsonite was great, except for the minor problem that you really could not put anything wider then a credit card in any of the pockets. The ME case (from CompUSA) was adaquate, except for the fact that the shoulder strap had a really bad habit of disconnecting itself from the case and dropping my laptop to the ground! [:0]

Can anyone recomend a good case for me? I just need to haul my 2012 with its 15" screen, the cords, and maybe a book, yet I can not seem to find anything suitable.

    Thanks!

I've got the Tropolis 1200 from Lowerpro. I got it free (with rebate) when I bought my Acer 2012 and have been very impressed by it. It is designed for 17" laptops but easily adjusts to the 15.4" widescreen. It has a lot of storage space, one portion for school/office supplies, another pouch for wires, etc., on the other side a portion that is a bit tighter and is most likely supposed to be used for documents, etc. Lots of storage space in it (I'm considering using it as my makeshift backpack up in college). The "leather" is very good quality and soft, as is the handle-- it molds very well to your grip. The shoulder strap, like the rest of the case is very comfortable. In case you are curious about how the laptop stays in, there is a standard aread for the laptop to go with an adjustable foam spacer that can be velcroed snug against one side of the laptop to keep pressure on the inside edge of the unit. In addition to that, there is a stretchy harness you wrap/velcro around the laptop. It's a bit minimalistic but it seems very sturdy. I am very impressed by it, especially because I got it "free."

For a better image of the case and all it's compartments go here:

As you can see, storage is the name of the game here but it is definitely a bigger case than some of the "sleeves" out there. Hope that helps.

For my Aspire 2000 I use a Waterfield Design bag (www.sfbags.com). I'm able to put in my laptop, external hard disk, power cords, wireless mouse, 2 sets of headphones, usb cables, AC power strip, DVD's, digital camera, etc. I use the large size bag.

As what Jess has, a 17" bag may be your best option, if you want to fit a book in it. I believe Targus has the XL series. This is designed for 17" notebooks, so the bag is a bit on the larger side, but it'll fit everything you have plus some in it.

Here's the one I'm talking about from Targus Canada. I don't know if the have this exact design in the US, because the one on the US site doesn't look like this one.

have you checked out booq (www.booqbags.com)? I use one of their 'powersleeves' in my day pack, but they also do have a nice looking line of backpacks, messengers, etc...

sleeves come in sizes to fit up to 17", i use a 15" for my 2012 and it fits perfectly. I've been told they were designed specifically for mac notebooks, but hopefully you don't hold that against them [ ;)]
