Hi,
I recently purchased a new hard drive for my Acer laptop and when I turn on my pc it now takes a little longer for the Acer post screen to change to boot to windows.
The hard drive is a Samsung 80 GB 5400 rpm
If you have any ideas on this problem please msg me
Thanks

In the Bios is the HD detection automatic or do you see the Samsung with the specs. Once you are booted into Windows is drive access time resonable or the same as before. Was the previous drive 5400 or 4200 ? Have you run any diagnostics on the drive (scandisk , etc)
Might look into a Bios upgrade check Acer's Web Site. -
Hi,
The previous drive was 4200rpm.
The Samsung hd in the bios is detected as primary master.
Other than the startup issue the hard drive works fine.
Do you think it could be the type or brand of the hard drive?
I also tried a 40 GB Samsung 5400rpm and it did the same thing.
Then i put back in the Hitachi 4200rpm 1 that came with the laptop and that posts fast like a normal pc would.
Thanks for ur reply

Might be an issue with Samsung as you have tried two of them with the same issue. I have not used a Samsung Drive - could be a built in delay before the platters start spinning - would still try a bios upgrade or check some Samsung forms see if you can any info there.
More of an anoyance it seems as you metnion drive is working fine once OS is up.
Good luck.
