    Hi all,

My daughter sent me link for her you tube video, but the sound was quite bad when played using the laptop internal speakers. I found how to change this to external and used the desktop espeakers, but the sound was louder but no better... so a duff recording, and I shut down the laptop. I have gone to change it back today and cannot find the settings menu to go back to the internal speakers, and the external speakers no longer work when plugged into the laptop..... oops.

I have been into control panel/sounds and the realtek sound bar moves when music is play, but I have know sound, and none of the window sounds like start up/new mail etc work.... any help appreciated.

I don't understand how you change the settings for the external speakers. The sound should go to the external speakers automatically, you don't need to change the settings, unless you have an audio system that requires different audio socket than the one for the headphones.
I guess you have Vista, so if you don't have sound, go to Control panel > Sound > Playback devices tab > and highlight (left click once or right click once) the speakers (should be at the top) and set them as the default device.
Let me know if that worked
