    Orange indicates it is charging
    Green indicates it fully charged

Yes your battery is 8 celled one

    FYI
    4 cell - 2200mAH
    8 cell - 4400mAH
    12 cell - 6600mAH

You can even start the computer with AC , But when you connect AC adpater alone no lights would be displayed in front still you can press power button and start the computer

If you have not installed any other powermanagement scheme change to this power scheme "Max Battery"
You can change it Power option under Control panel

You will only get 2 Hours for 8-Celled with high cpu speed & 80% brightness. even if its Centrino

Battery life advertised by manufacture's is always by taking "Max Battery " power setting
