    Aspire 5610Z

    Just bought an aspire 5610Z.

Registry has 2 names and values
    Name:捁牥吠畯r
    Value:Null
    Name: 捁牥吠畯⁲ 敒業摮牥
    Value:散屲捁牥潔牵剜浥湩敤硥e

    Could someone please interpret?

5610z had premature failure on Laptop 2 days after purchase. A large retailer (let's call them BB not to accuse anyone by name) the salemans there accused me causing problem. Said I changed the software.

Computer had multiple problems with ACPI being one of them computer would freeze after 30 - 40 minutes of operation three times fan stayed off completely until unit shut down because of overheating.

Salesperson told me I had to keep power saving on the balanced setting.

Another problem could not create a set of default restore disks.

    Called Acer.
Said to "ship it back ..." They cover the repair I cover shipping..
    I took back to BB.

Came home with second unit but now I am gun shy. I am afraid to turn it on.

    Hi,
i also bought an acer in china, did you go in one of those places where you bargain for the price for laptop, and hardware in general?
if yes, you have to think that these sellers usually don't stay there long enough to understand what a laptop is... forget them, they are not technical at all, and do as you did, calling directly the manufacturer, they will handle for you the problem.

Now, back to your issue, was maybe just a bios problem (an upgrade will may fix it), anyway, you did right to call acer and ask for a chance. Don't be afraid and turn it on, and test it on Best Performance for some days, so if any problems will come out asap.

    Yes,
Bios problem? The laptop was 3 days old. Best Buy did not want to exchange it because I could not get the unit to freeze in the store.
When I got the new laptop there were differences.
    1. I created the restore DVD's no problems
    2. fan was quieter. - returned unit's fan seemed to get really loud and just before locking up the fan would race to maximum volume.
    3. had higher signal receiver sensitivity on the wlan.
    - The old laptop, I could not delete one of the wlan's. Everytime it was deleted it would come back and say it recoginized a second WLAN but always a duplicate of the first WLAN.

As for BIOS at Best Buy they did not even want me to run the widgets that came with Vista they said the computer was fine just as long as I didn't do anything.

They said I should not run it on high performance that is why is was locking up.

Anyways, I am not going to reflash the BIOS when the unit is on warrantee.
And really there are no settings directly accessable to the user on the BIOS like there is on ASUS MB. - can not change voltages or multipliers directly. Might be able to with manufacturers Software but that is beyond my capabilities.
