I've had an Acer Aspire 5102 WLMi for a while now, and have found it getting noticably hotter as time goes by.

I assume this is down to dust and over stuff inside the system, so how would I go by getting the case off to clean it out?

The only part of a 5100 series that really collects dust is the fan intake on the bottom of the notebook. The following is what you need to do clean if your notebook's temperatures are rising.

To get to the fan all you have to do is grab a screw driver unscrew the screws and remove the thermal panel (largest panel) on the bottom of the notebook. Of course when you are doing this procedure turn off and unplug your notebook and remove the battery(very important).

NOTE: even though you have removed the screws the panel will not just "fall off" because there are little plastic tabs holding the panel in place and now what you need to do is slowly and carefully pry the panel off. There should be a small indentation near the front of the panel use a flat head screw driver to pry it up and then move from there, releasing the other clips along the way.
Take your time with it and don't try to rush it or force it in anyway as you don't want these clips to break.

Once you have the panel off then clean out the fan and it's blades (removing dust and any debris) usually I recommend a can of compressed air as it does the job fine. Once you are done pop the panel back on (you will hear those plastic clips pop back into place), then replace the screws and you are good to go. :)
