Hi all, I was thinking about buying a new netbook but I figured I'd give a shot at fixing my old old acer aspire one first.

(The following is to the best of my memory. This was ~6 months ago)

I had removed the keyboard because it stopped working and accidentally broke the clips or whatever holds the keyboard ribbon cable down off. The metal prongs are still there but there's nothing to secure the ribbon cable into place. Is this anything I can do? At least I think that's what happened. I bought a new acer aspire one keyboard and either the clips broke off like I thought or I'm too stupid to get it to stay in place.

Also, is there any way to wipe my computer out and start from scratch externally? It has a virus where it loads up to a lime green screen and nothing shows up until I open up the task manager and start any program. (Then everything loads) I'm wondering because I obviously can't press ctrl + alt + del so maybe if I wipe everything out I could access the on-screen keyboard?

Yes, I know. A lot is wrong with it. I already gave up hope on this netbook and bought the one I'm using right now which works fine. But I want to bring one to school with me now and before I buy a new one I figured I'd give fixing this one a shot.

Any input is much appreciated. Thanks!

Can you tape it in place? Not real permanent or sturdy, but it might hold for a year or so.
