The other day, I went into empowering Technology And chose the option Restore to factory default. I followed all the directions and it went to factory default correctly. But then, when i tried to re install (Visual Studio 08) From a CD I noticed that it had the serial already in it.. I had put that serial in befor I chose the factory default option. Does some info like serials stay in registry after the factory default? If Yes then is there a way I can COMPLETLY remove EVERYTHING from my HDD? To its original state? Sorry if I confused you.. But im just curious as why it saved that serial.
Thanks for your patience and cooperation.

Did you mean the Restore to Factory Default didn't prompt you to key-in the license key?
    It is normal for that.
Basically, Restore to Factory Default will format the C Drive and install back everything to original.

Yet, I find it(Restore to Factory Default) useless. I grab an Original Vista and have a Clean installation. It is much more better. Moreover, those Acer bloatware(except Arcade Deluxe) are really useless to be installed and they're hogging the memory(RAM), HDD spaces and Processor speed.
GPU driver(graphic driver) from Acer is crap, grab it(latest) from Nvidia website(much more better and higher performance).
The other Acer drivers(except GPU) from Acer are good, just works fine.

Hi, I think you missed what the OP was saying darksilver and you gave other, irrelevent advice, one that we'll leave to debate another day.

Yes a factory install will re-partition the C drive, thus it should have a new registry. However it doesn't clean out the D drive(partition), if you have one. It maybe that Visual Studio 08 retains some information on that drive..

Thank you for the answers now is there a way to clear my D drive? Or should i leave it as it is and not cause any harm.

Now Dark Silver you said I could get different drivers for my Acer? Whats the diference and what will it change on my PC? Will I notice anything different?

And last thing, What default programs that come with Acer that I should remove and what would be the best way to to remove them completely?

    Thanks very much.

It seems you're interested on it.
    OK.
eRecovery restore default factory will restore everything back to the original state with all Acer's software(status that the 1st day you bought the laptop).
The best way of removing Acer useless software is do a CLEAN installation of OS. Which mean not using the eRecovery Partition to restore the AS6920G.
After do a CLEAN installation, search around the internet for drivers.
As for GPU(graphic card), www.nvidia.com is the best choice and easiest choice.
As for the other Drivers and software such as Webcam, Realtek, Touchpad, Cinedash, Finger prints, Acer Arcade Deluxe and so on. You can download it here(acer official download site), http://gd.panam.acer.com/home/
Do not install these driver(they're useless):
    a.) Orion
    b.) Acer Grid Vista
c.) Empowering technology(epower, erecovery and so on).
    d.) many more LOL.

Before doing the CLEAN installation, I would suggest you to burn out the Recovery Discs and Driver/Applications Disc. These Discs are useful when you plan to revert everything back to ORIGINAL again.

Sorry to add to this thread but I have exactly the same query except that I have tried already with my Acer laptop and all I do is go around in circles. Have changed the bios boot order to cd. The new vista installation disc runs, serial number etc etc and then it goes through a phase of searching for updates followed by returning to oringinal installation asking me for the password. Enter password and I am back to the Acer installation.
    Thank you for any advice.
