About two days ago my laptop started acting funny.

Anytime I typed something it would end up coming up backwards
Ex. Typing "Hello" would show up as "olleH"
The little blinking typer thing would always go to the left as soon as I finished typing a letter.

I've done a search for this and some people say maybe its a language option that has changed, maybe a Right to Left for Asian language type thing

But it seems all other windows are affected too
If I open the Start Menu and try to select something it will always highlight to the left.

If I try to open something like Shut down screen, it is hard to choose Shutdown, Restart, Standby because its as if the Tab key is held down and I can't double click anything

Or in My Computer if I try to select C drive for example it will always move to what is to the left of C drive.

    I'm using a Acer Aspire 5040
    Running WinXP SP2

The problem does go away when I reboot, but it still seems to come back after being on for a little bit of time

    Any help would be good..
I'm trying to check the drivers for the keyboard and may try reinstalling
    Also doing a virus scan...

    Any suggestions would be good
    Thanks!

No clue about the windows thing, but if it's the right-to-left text language thing try hitting ctrl + left-shift to revert to left-to-right text.

    Ctrl + left-shift (left-to-right)
    Ctrl + right-shift (right-to-left)

I don't think that you somehow changed an option it sounds like a virus to me. Especially that part about it only kicking in after a little bit of your PC being on. I would definately try a virus scan and if that doesn't find anything you may want to download hijack this and consult someone online who knows how to use it. Hope this helps!

I uninstalled the drivers for the keyboard, rebooted and had it reinstall itself.
Had it run for about 2 days now and no problems thus far.....

Hopefully that was it...not too sure though

The Ctrl+Shift thing doesnt make a difference for me

such a strange problem... i would have guessed that the left key on the keyboard was stuck down. Apparently it was a driver issue judging by what you've said

I had thought that aswell, but I held the Tab and the Left key down and they movement is completely different..

So to follow up, its been quite a few days now since then, and the problem has not surfaced again...
