I went to the computer shop today to check out the laptop i want in person. I touched and felt a very similar model to the one i want (i want the 1691) but was a little concerned over the give in it. The palm rests sqashed a lot, the keyboard moved up and down a fair bit and the mouse buttons felt plasticky, is this normal with acers, im not sure whether to sell my toshiba a30 514 anymore.

Yes, some of the lower end models do have a flimsy hollow fell to it, especially around the palm rest areas, but the units are still pretty sturdy.
