    Hi guys
I'm wondering how I can tell if the Battery that came with my Aspire 5102WLMi is a 6-cell or an 8-cell.

When looking around on the web, this whole battery thing is pretty confusing

The one that came with my 5102WLMi says:
    Model: BATBL50L8H
    14.8v
    4800mAh
    Charge Current: 3.8A

    Is this an 8-cell battery?

From searching around, I thought these Laptops came with only a 4-cell battery, but the key here seems to be the 4800mAh that mine has.

When I try to search for a similar battery, a lot of them with a similar model number are only 4000mAh. (I can't find the exact model number anywhere)

In fact, here is one that claims to be an 8-cell, yet it is only 4300mAh:
    http://www.fedcoelectronics.com/detail.tpl?SKU=BATCL50L&_fid=17973

And if you do a search for the 'Aspire 5100 series' at the Acer site itself, it comes up with an "8-Cell, 4800mAh" battery. (But a different model number)
    http://secure.tx.acer.com/AccessorySales/OrderForm.aspx

That's the key isn't it? The mAh?

So, does the fact that mine says 4800mAh (and not 43000 or 4000mAh), mean I already have an 8-cell battery?

    If it is, I'm surprised.
Because it was bought at Circuit City last August, and it seems like everybody that bought one then was complaining about the 4-cell battery and wanting to upgrade.

    How can you tell?
And what is the most powerful one available?

And last but not least, where do you buy these things at a decent price besides to two links above?

    Thanks.

    That's good to hear deltafx1942. :)

However, it doesn't really answer my question.

Is my Battery (the 4800mAh I described above) an 8-cell then?

Also, If you read my post (sorry, I know it's boring), you'll see I had a few other questions about this whole battery thing.

    Like:
    1. How do you know if it's an 8-cell or not?
    2. Where is a good place to get quality batteries for the 5102?
    3. What's the longest lasting battery they make for a 5102?

Anyway, thanks again....maybe some others could shed some light.

Sorry to bump this, but can it be possible that with all you Notebook owners around here, nobody knows much about measuring battery capacity and where the best place to buy them is?

I'm not trying to be a wise guy here, just a little surprised that nobody can tell me how I know whether I have a 4-cell or an 8-cell battery with the description I've given. (A google search gave me conflicting specs).

Well, it's been three days, and nobody can answer any of my questions?
(Now my thead is being lost in the archives).

    I'm a little disappointed.

Sorry about my initial long posts, skip them and just tell me this if possible:

    1. How do I know if I have a 6-cell or an 8-cell battery?
    2. What is the highest capacity battery available for the Aspire 5102WLMi?
    3. Where is the best place to get one of these batteries?

If someone can answer at least one of the questions, you are a Laptop Battery guru.

If you can answer all three, your are truly a Laptop battery Genius, and a person to be highly respected for their knowledge of batteries. :)

    It's an 8Cell Lithium battery at 4800maH.

It's as easy as looking on the back of the battery when you take it out.

EDIT .........Pardon Me ..... I forgot about your first post, lol

EDIT AGAIN ....... **** I searched everywhere, it's really hard to find an anwser. I'll keep looking tho

Well, thanks for the reply LIVEFRMNYC.

I did take it out...that's how I was able to list the specs in my first post.
    Nowhere does it say "8-cell".

But I suspected it was because of the 4800maH (Again, bold in my first post).

As far as my other two questions...thanks just the same folks.
Somehow it's not worth asking anymore.

    Have a nice day. :)

(Edit #2) We seem to be trading 'edits' here LIVEFRMNYC....sorry, I don't mean to sound ungrateful.

And it's really no big deal, so don't worry about it.
    Thanks again.
