When I connect my note book to my TV, using a VGA cable, the picture on both TV and PC starts to flicker after a few seconds.

The hard drive is working and the CPU runs at a 100% when they are connected.

Hope some one can help me

    Thank you
    Tara

Hello, and welcome to the forums!

We might be able to help you if we have a little more information. What laptop are you using? What TV are you hooking it up to? What OS are you running?

Knowing more will help us help you. Best of luck.

Does your computer have a S-Video out port? I have found that to work better than VGA in some instances. I have the same TV, so I will run some tests for you and see if I can help. If I don't get back to you within a day or 2, PM me to remind me.

Edit: So far, I've tested out my old TravelMate in my windows 7 install. I am having no trouble via VGA cable.

Tara, since I don't know too much about the Extensa model, could you please tell me if you have integrated or discrete graphics, and if so which card? I'm off to test my XP install with older drivers to see if a driver could be the culprit.

Ok, I think I figured out what may be happening. I goofed around with the TV all day (no one else was home, lucky me!) and I had a similar problem when I got sick of the short cable I was using and went to get a longer one. The result was a notocible lag and some flickering. I do remember reading somewhere that using too long of a cable/bad/cheap cable can make this happe. Maybe this is what happened to you.

    Best of luck!

I did get the cheapest cable I could find... That's just me... A cheap date.

Any way thanks for all the effort. Sorry I haven't responded sooner.
