hello was just wondering if anyone could clear things up for me. The acer aspire 6935 had a HDMI input and HDMI output along with dolby didital built in. My aim is to be able to watch blueray films on plasma or lcd thats also connected to surround sound 5.1 or better.

One way i was thinking was to connect the laptop from the HDMI (output) with the tv's HDMI input. Change the settings on the tv to show HDMI input (im guessing it doesnt do this automatically). ok thats the visuals now for the surrpund sound.
THEN attatch the tv's HDMI output to the surrond sound device , and change the tvs settings to sound output to HDMI. is that viable or am i barking up the wrong tree??

Is there an easier way? whats the conventional way of directly connecting a tv to surround sound?( ie what cables/ tv input out ports required)

    Any1 clued up on this??
