Hey all,
Quick question, I've done a clean install of XP. I feel the Acer Software suite is causing instability in my system. Sure enough, after uninstalling the Acer software, I've been without a problem for months.
Anyway, I know with the Acer power management software, I can "control" the speed of the CPU. I'm just wondering if its possible to do it without that software? I have the Aspire 5672 (Core Duo). I know that I can simply go to Window's Power Management and change the profile to laptop or adjust it so that the HD or Screen will shut off after some time. However, there is no indication of whether CPU is adjusted.
Any ideas?
Thanks!

As long as windows power management is set to portable/laptop then speedstep is enabled on your core duo. If you want to check make sure that your CPU speed is changing then make sure windows is idling and then check cpu-z or any other processor reporting program and see what cpu speed is being reported.
Or if you want you can use notebook hardware control (NHC) or RMClock to undervolt and dynamically control the CPU speed as I do... -
Thanks for the info!

I've been using RM Clock for a while now after some of the members here suggested. I find it to be great. Give it a shot, I don't think you will be disappointed.

I do have acers power management. It is supposed to allow me to reset how long my computer will remain on while untouched. Currently if I remember correctly, it is set to 10 hours. I want to change that but my computer is not allowing me to open my power management. How can I change this?
