I was thinking of getting the Zalman NC-1000 but I head it only works if the vents in the laptop are in the right place.

Has anyone got one and use it with a 5920?

You are completely uninformed if that is what you heard about the Zalman NC1000.

I highly recommend you read the Notebook Guyers guide (link in sig which is below this text)

Have you read about how to choose a notebook cooler? How to figure out if a cooler aligns properly? Comparing the Features/size charts?

At the top right the most, but really the whole of it gets warm. It does get noticably warmer when its on for over an hour. CPU is at 55C and GPU at 63C on idle

I would personally head for a NZXT Cryo LX for your system if you do not mind a little noise. Your temperatures are not bad actually.
