I thought someone said that with a bios update you can put a core 2 duo into a aspire 5672wlmi. I am currently running the latest bios, but i wanted to know for future reference (Basically when the vore duo proceesor is out of date).

Search for posts from a user named "sucka" (I think) in this forum and others for details

    Bios 3224?
Here are the release note for it
    1. Update new M56 VBIOS.

    2. Update to support Merom CPU.
    zb1.tc1\bcp.asm
    base\cpu\m2706f1.asm

SO yes you can indeedy upgrade to the Merom. The only problem is that Merom gives out more heat... I would suggest getting a Low voleage core proccy or prehaps even getting rid of Acers thermal paste/pads and using AS5 to cool it better thus negoiting the more heat Merom will give out

That's great the bios supports the core 2 duo. I'd love to be able to drop in a 64 bit chip maybe in a year or so for linux use. (I'm ordering my 5672 today)

Is the CPU simple a drop in replacement as with desktops?
