OR...it might be a speaker problem, as my Acer 6930g has a crackling speaker problem (as with most 6930's it seems...). However, since you said your computer goes into slow mo video playback, it might not be that.
OR...it might mean your laptop is doing something in the background like a virus scan! I think some virus scans take a load of system resources and if you're playing a video there could be a resource conflict, so to speak. Maybe disconnect from the internet and disable your AV to check if the problem reoccurs? Check your AV's scanning schedule to see if the crackling/slow-mo coincides with a scan, and change the schedule accordingly. May not actually be a virus scan causing problems - that was just an example!
Anyway hope it gets sorted. -
hey ! sometimes when i just turn on my laptop, you know the normal vista startup sound?? yeah it becomes a freakin crackling sound and not only that, it goes into slow motion and everything becomes slower.
no it is not the AV problems and like i said, sometimes it happens on startup -
Hmmm...seems really odd. You had the computer long? Last resort will be to call up Acer and see if they will send you a new one.
Try this:

Tinderbox (UK) BAKED BEAN KING
I had two 8930G and they both use to make a loud cracking noise when i shut them down, and sometimes when they were running in windows , never ever had this happen on any of my other 20+ notebooks that i`ve had before or since.

hey... uhhh nothing helps at all.
i had it for about 10months ? yeahh -
I had this problem with online videos or anything that involved java and flash. I found a post that said to simply install flash player to ie before firefox or something. I cant remember the sequence now but it got rid of my cracking audio problems. I had assumed it would be graphics drivers and although I changed those I think the flash and java installation dance fixed mine, so maybe search down these avenues also.

It's probably driver related. realtek & Nvida.
Or perhaps you experience some sort of throttle.
Try searching here. The anwer is here somewhere. -
So did anyone come up with a solution to that ?
