I found out that my dvd drive would disappear after ejecting and put a cd/dvd in it. The drive seems to be spinning but the DVD drive disappears from both Explorer and Device Manager. Checking event logs it shows this error:

The device, \Device\Ide\iaStor2, did not respond within the timeout period.

If I check Intel Matrix storage manager (8.9.0.1023), the dvd drive disappears from there as well.

After this happens, I cannot eject the dvd drive anymore. And shutdown would hang - I'll have to force the shutdown.

The DVD drive would appear after rebooting, but it is just not usable.

Any one have the same issue? Your help / comments is highly appreciated.
