I have the Acer Aspire 5672. I just bought a DVI to Component video adapter. I bought the DVI-I dual link adapter but the laptop has the DVI-D dual link. DVI-I adapter has two extra contacts above and below the flat blade and therefore does not fit into the lap. Here is where I did a stupid this. I assumed I don't really need the two extra pins (thought probably used for analog) so I broke them off. The adapter now fits the laptop but it does not detect my tv. Did I need the extra pins or could there be another problem? Please help. Thanks.
