Hello. I have a problem. I was using modded bios v1.30 which was working fine, but then i decided to switch off HT( HYPER-THREADING). After restart screen is dark, no hard drive activity. How do i reset it to factory settings? The damned CMOS battery is soldered to the motherboard! I even tried shorting it's two pins. No luck so far.. Please help! Should i short it more? Are there any jumpers on motherboard for reset? Please help me..

Service manual is available through the sticky- mycomp.su website.
Consult the part on clearing CMOS- pins that need to be shortened are under SO-DIMMs.

by the way, i made a recovery stick(8gb, but only 512mb FAT partition), aaaand the lappy won't get bios from it, the Stick's led won't even flash. All i did was partition a fat and put bios image(FD) on the root directory of the stick. Nothing happens, the laptop doesn't even detect it i think..What should i do? Burn FD image to disk?

I tried doing the same with a 4GB Flashdrive with a 2GB FAT16 partition with the .fd on it, but it didnt worked either. I tried a 2 GB FAT16 Flashdrive with the .fd on it and the light flashed once and then it stopped working then after about 25 secs. it shutsoff and I need to unplug the AC adapter for it to turn back on

EDIT: How do I short the pins? (If I manage to open the container)

I think I broke my HDD :D(cries in the inside). I tried doing what the manual said but I forgot to take out the HDD.(It worked for like a second, did a weird noise then the pc shutoff)
Also, is the RTC Battery the same as the CMOS battery cuz if it is, the I can leave it out for a couple of hours and see if it works

Well it's pretty sad that you damaged the hard drive.
It's more important to get the laptop up and running though. The hard drive is cheap to replace anyway.
Please inform me of any progress you make with the laptop.

So I just took apart my PC and the CMOS Battery was, indeed, soldered. Tomorrow my dad is going to try unsoldering it then solder it again later. Ill give you an update tomorrow's night.( At least night in Chile).

EDIT: Disoldering the CMOS Battery didnt work. Tried again the USB Flashdrive method and didnt work either. PLEASE HELP

I tried reseting bios, tried Flashdrive method as you did, i even burned the bios to a cd, it doesn't seem to work.
I hope someone more skilled in things like this can help us.
If no one will show up i think i'll take my laptop to warranty and hope they won't notice i played with the bios...

FYI the notebook came back to my hands yesterday. Sadly it was dead :(. Guess I'll have to get another notebook but these are hard to find in my country since every single place I go is full of HP notebooks with AMD E-Series APUs (I've lots of friends who have these notebooks, they aren't what I want).

In the thread acer 5740G this was also happened sometimes, some folks buying on Ebay Bios roms
and desolder the old one's, replaced it with the one's the found on Ebay.
Maybe you look if there are also some for 5742G.
