    Hello!

I've just switched over to Vista on my acer aspire 5672 WLMI.
I don't have the old software package anymore, as i didn't upgrade.

But i still have some of my old files encrypted with the program that was orginally on, anybody know what program i could use to decrypt them?

Im sorry in advance if there is another thread, but i didnt find it.

This is my first post here, so hello to everyone! =D

Are we talking hacking here...? We can't talk about hacking here...

You'll probably need to find an XP computer, load the files and your XP program, and provide whatever decrypting key (which you should know as they are your files) is needed to decrypt them. Problem solved.

Offcourse i know the password, i just wondered if there was a program i could use for Vista. starting to get irritated at myself for even starting to use the Acer program instead of AES sometimes.

What program is it that we're talking about? Did you try installing it under Vista anyway?

If you don't have the install CD (it seems to me that's what the original post was about) I'd try contacting Acer to try and get the install CD...you might even be able to download it.

    SOLVED IT!

go onto the Acer euro site, download the XP version of edatasecurity, then download the Vista update bundle ( the software update, not driver ) then just unzip the emanagement framework, install, reboot and voila! it works :)

there wasnt any documentation on this ( as far i as i found) so this was a complete trial and error thing, i just hope whoever wonders about this next will find this thru google or the search engine, and find the solution.

You can decrypt your files with Egis(tm) reader. Available here:
    www.hiegis.com

...or change the file extension of your encypted file to .exe and they will then be able to be opened as they are a self-extracting file.
