    Hi folks,

I have a problem on my Acer 1810tz - when I press a Function button, such as Fn + F8 = mute/unmute sound, there is a very long delay of up to 3 seconds between pressing the button and seeing the speaker symbol show up on screen.

Acer's Launch Manager program is what displays the on-screen symbols. I have installed the latest version from the Acer website (it is a fresh install of Win7 64bit) found here, version 3.0.02.

When I purchased the laptop the symbols appeared straight away but now, after a fresh install, there is a long delay. All I have installed is chipset/graphics drivers and touchpad drivers.

Has anyone else had this problem?

    Thanks

I have the 1810t model and yes I have this problem...it was perfect until I reformatted and installed Windows 7 Ultimate (upgraded from home)...now the mute icon takes 3 seconds to pop up, sound isn't that slow but still lags...I don't know why this is but I remember it happened to my Sony Vaio after I reformatted several years ago. Any clues as to how to fix this would be helpful for me too.

anyone know the reason for this problem? It would be really nice to find a fix for it. It seems to only happen to reformatted drives, but the only software associated with the FN + Keys is launch manager, which we both have an updated version for.

It is possible that the laptops shipped with an older version of Launch Manager and that there is an issue with the latest one. It may be worth trying to install an older version.

I installed the old driver before installing the new driver because I didn't realize it was the older one (I just picked the larger one to DL)...so it's not that, it had the same problem with both old/current.

    hmm...

One thing i noticed was that the driver installed into the "x86" Program File folder - this is the folder for 32bit apps isn't it? Maybe we should try installing it in the standard "Program Files" folder which is for 64 bit apps?

I had the same problem after upgrading my 6930G to W7 X64 and using the launch manager driver Acer list for W7 X64, all touch sensitive buttons were very unresponsive along with the remote control, switched to the Vista X64 driver and all fine.

yup, tried the acer perscribed W7 x64 driver several times and changed the order of the driver installations, the result was the same every time, uninstall it and use the Vista X64 version instead and everything works as it should.

There doesn't seem to be a Vista 64bit version of Launch Manager for the 1810tz on the Acer website - I don't think there are any Vista utilities because the model doesn't ship with Vista maybe?

Does anyone know what other models have the same Function buttons - ie a model with compatible Launch Manager software for 1810tz (for Vista x64)?

yea I found no vista drivers for it either...I ended up trying to install launchpad for home premium x64 in the regular program files folder as that was the OS it shipped in.

the mute/unmute lags 3 seconds, but everything else is instant, and of course FN+F1 still doesn't work because there is no battery software (which I can't find online either..ugh)...wish there was better support for these lap tops.

Hi guys I had a similar problem with my 1410 after doing clean install of win7 32bit (along w a BIOS update to 3303). In addition to the 3 second mute notification delay, my Fn+F5 was non-functional. This was with Launch Manager 3.0.02. What worked for me was installing the 3.0.00 for my OS system. To view previous versions theres an option to see the LATEST or ALL version of the software. Hope that helps.
