Hi everyone, happy new year.
I have a query which i hope somone can help with.
I installed win 7 on my 8930g after recieving the upgrade disk from acer. This is the first time i have had to deal with oem installed operating systems and hidden partitions.
I installed the win 7 on my D drive rather than the C drive so that i could eventually format C to remove he hidden crap. I am now ready to do this but am unsure as to how to go about it. I have read that a third party software is needed, can anyone recomend one? also although i did a clean install onto a seperate hard drive the copy of win 7 is still an upgrade, is there any data/key on the C drive that it will have looked at during the install, and therefore i need to find and back up?
Also i think i know the answer to this but once formatted can i swap the drive letters around ie rename d as c etc or will windows and the programs fall over?
Also, the machine tries to dual boot at the start, i tried forcing it to boot from d but it will not have it so i fudged the amount of time it allows you to make the decision between OS booting to 1 second so that it boots the default which is win7. will formating the vista on c cause any problems?
cheers
Russ

Hi. I'm new to Acer but I think your question is a basic one. Open My Computer and right click on "C" drive in the options there is FORMAT which cleans out, it's gone, EVERYTHING in that partition.
Your system will automaticly change D to C.
I happen to like and use Partition Magic or Disk Director.
I personally would not change anything yet, on startup go into Bios and choose the boot drive you want to run and it will stay that one till you might want to boot from the other one. I use a second drive to image the the other one as this setup is simple. As I say this I find Acer is different and the above may be trash. I'm amazed by the # of models new and old, someones job security? -
Hi Visch1
Thanks for the reply but it is not that simple, there is a hidden recovery partition that just running a standar format will not delete, currently it is about 30gb on my machine, although that does include vista which is installed on the hidden partition.
Deleting old vista partition after win 7 install
