Has any one here received their windows upgrade 7 from Acer yet? Please can you tell me if the 64bit version is included or is it 32bit only?

Hi, I downloaded a student Home Premium version from MS yesterday, only cost me £30.00 http://www.microsoft.com/uk/education/studentoffer/
I've also got a version coming from Toshiba but they've put back the shipping date to, and I quote, some time at the begining of december...

I did a clean install. All is running well, but I can not find the empowering software for Win7. If anyone has the link thanks in advance.

    JJK

Edit: Found the solution for the empowering problem on another forum. I simply typed empowering into my Start Menu search box and then right clicked onto the result it found in my programs. It actually found it by time i put in emp... So then you select "Troubleshoot compatibility" from the right click and an automatic troubleshooter determines the problem and suggests a proper solution. I used what it suggested which was "Windows XP SP2" mode and it's all good.

When I did it online it automatically selected the 32-bit version. I believe the keys themselves are usable on either 32 or 64 bit. The keys should determine which version (Home, Pro etc) and retail or upgrade status.

Haven't got mine yet, don't expect it for awhile. Also waiting on my wife getting her student copy approved (her school doesn't have .edu addresses, so we have to wait a couple weeks for someone to hit "approved").

No, I haven't received the discs yet, and even though I have paid, my payment status is still pending so does the shipping status!!!!

    Still waiting here too...
I am hoping too that the Windows 7 disc comes, as in the shops, with the two versions, but somehow.... I don't think so :(

I had to pay £12 postage. I phoned ACER and apprently they will only send me the 32bit since the laptop came with 32bit vista. Which seems daft since both 32 and 64bit are both included if purchased from a shop.

Any I really wanted 64bit so I went to PC and got a copy, mny father can have the 32bit version when it arrives.

    @adey12
Btw, the Acer Win7 OEM key will work for 32bit and 64bit so you could just obtain a 64bit DVD from somewhere or download it from the web to install and use the original key to activate.

You still need the SLIC 2.1 Certificate...
Or back it up from the original install.

What does this mean? I purchased an Acer and a Dell one with Vista Home Premium and one with Vista Ultimate so I am going to have 2 Windows 7 versions, can I not swap them? Even on a clean install?

    Cheers

I just got the email form Acer that my W7 is on it's way...

Will the SLIC 2.1 Certificate prevent me from installing the 64bits (if I only receive the 32Bits from Acer) and use the serial number provided by Acer (for the 32bits)????
