i think it might have something to do with the screen that they have, but i might be wrong.....

each letter has a meaning, I went to a acer conference once where they told them to us, but I've forgotten...

i - was for integrated wireless
    w - was for widescreen

they didnt say anything about 's' though...

    yeah if I remember correctally....

    'W' - wide screen
    'i' - integrated wireless
    'C' - DVD-rom COMBO drive CD/RW
'M' = DVD dual layer burner
'P' Windows XP Pro (this will be at the end of the wlmi'p') eg "ACER Ferrari 4005WLMIP"

I'l still not certain what the 'L' is for.... might be to do with resolution.... I'll check, I'm going to work for a few moments just now, I'll ask someone while I'm there for you :)

no one at work seemed to know for sure what the "L' was for...

I'm pretty certain that the 'M' is for the multi drice (DVD burner)! They all have onboard LAN too so that doesnt get a letter.

The 'L' I'd say is for the screens demensions/resolution. The Acer notebooks with 17" LCDs have the letter 'S' in their codes, while notebooks with 15" or 15.4 have "L"
