I recently purchased an Acer 1681, and I'm not sure if this is a defect, but as I've noticed that a small area of the bottom right corner of the screen is slightly dimmer than the rest of the screen. If I look at the corner head on, then it seems to be the same as the rest of the screen. It's just a small area, and as if you press a finger against the screen, rather than a dead pixel. Is it due to the frame pressing against the screen? Or is it an actual defect?

    Thanks!

Try changing the background... the Acer aspire default background gives that effect having different shades.

Usually patches of dark or light spots occurs when there is uneven pressure on the screen. It looks like there's some pressure on the corner that is causing the dim patch. Acer will not repair this under warranty as it's not a defect, rather a blemish. If you really wanted it fixed, you could always used the "intermittent" word when describling a problem with the screen. For example, the backlight intermittently will flicker. Since it's intermittent, it's not guaranteed to be re-producable when they are testing it, which usually leads to the LCD being replaced. It's a bit underhanded, but if the manufacturer is unwilling to replace it after you dropped a grand or two, then you're left with no other options.

Thanks for the advice. I recently looked up another forum about this, and someone mentioned to lightly rub the affected area, and I did that with a microfibre cloth used to wipe glasses. It seemed to make the blurry patch smaller now, and less noticeable. I guess if it gets worse, I'll bother Acer about it!
