I am trying to help a friend that has the subject laptop. Just to provide some history. The laptop was given to her by her son and it had Vista installed. At that time, we disabled the touchpad. Since then, she had Vista removed and XP Home Edition installed. We cannot find a place to disable the touchpad and Acer will not help.

Please is there anyone out there that can help with this? Keep in mind, I am probably a low intermediate computer user, but can follow directions as long as they are not techy. My friend is probably a medium beginner, again she can follow directions.

Note: clicking the fn+f7 keys do not work. I also read on one of my searches that a generic driver could be downloaded from Synaptics, but I didn't want to have her do that unless it was the right thing to do. I don't want to cause more problems.

    Thanks so much,
    Judy F. :(
