Ok.. so I have an Acer Aspire 5520 laptop with 320gb hd space .. 8600m gs video card ... 4gb ram... Vista 32-bit oem.. etc.

The problem is that I've just accidentaly deleted my whole OS.
I booted with my Vista 64-bit disc so I could format one of my drives, but I stupidly formatted the wrong one. (the one with my OS)

So now I just installed Vista 64-bit on it, so I could at least do something with my laptop (watch dvds etc.), but I can't get the internet to work anymore because of all the important stuff that got deleted.

What I was using was some public WLAN.

Now it complains that a network adapter doesn't exist.. or something like that. I don't even know what that is.

Is there any way I can fix this myself? I just need to get my internet to work again.

    Hi bud....don't panic ;)

Just go somewhere where u can access the internet and download the drivers for your laptop from the Acer website.
Then go to your device manager in and choose to manually update the driver of the device with a questionmark after it.

Try to download both the Atheros WLAN driver and the Broadcom WLAN driver. U could have either one of these network adapters.

    http://support.acer-euro.com/drivers/notebook/as_5520.html

Be sure that u set the menu on 64bit drivers as you have Vista 64 installed
If you have vista 64 SP1 go to the second group of drop down menu's (under Vista SP1)

Are those the only 2 drivers, and can they be different from what country you are from?

    Works now, thanks!

It was the Atheros driver that was needed. :)

Now I just need to start installing tons of Windows updates, 38 of them. :p
